It’s no secret that we love poppy seeds — and this little tart is one more proof of it. We use the same dough as for our baigli because it’s simply too delicious not to, and we fill it generously with our classic poppy seed filling.
Although the ingredients are similar, the result is a completely different product. The ratio of dough to filling, the ease of holding it in one hand, and — most importantly — the fresh lemon zest added to the filling give it a lighter, brighter character.
We pack them in boxes of four: they travel well, make a lovely gift, and let’s be honest — one piece is never enough.
