Refund policy

At Codru de Pâine, we craft fresh, artisanal sourdough breads, pastries, cakes, and gluten-free products daily using high-quality natural ingredients. Because of the perishable nature of our goods, we maintain a very strict no-returns policy for all standard orders. We do not accept returns or exchanges simply because you changed your mind, the product did not meet your taste expectations, or for any other non-quality reason.

Non-Returnable Items

The vast majority of our products cannot be returned or refunded. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • All fresh breads (including sourdough, millet, and other breads)
  • Pastries, cakes, cookies
  • Vegan, gluten-free, or specialty baked goods
  • Any perishable food items

These products are excluded from the right of withdrawal under EU and Romanian consumer protection law because they are perishable goods that deteriorate rapidly and cannot be resold after delivery.

We strongly recommend that you review product descriptions, ingredients, and photos carefully before placing your order.

Damages, Defects, or Wrong Items

Please inspect your order immediately upon receipt.

If your order arrives damaged, defective (e.g., clearly spoiled or mouldy beyond normal expectation), or if you received the wrong item, contact us within 24 hours at marketing@codrudepaine.ro with clear photos of the issue, your order number, and delivery details.

We will evaluate each case individually. If we determine the issue is our responsibility, we may offer a replacement (subject to availability) or a partial/full refund at our sole discretion. We do not offer returns or refunds for minor issues related to natural variation in artisanal baking (e.g., slight differences in crust, size, or appearance).

Note: Claims made after 24 hours will generally not be accepted, as freshness cannot be guaranteed.

How to Request a Review for Defective Items

Items sent back to us without prior approval will not be accepted or refunded.

Exchanges

We do not offer exchanges. If an approved replacement is offered, we will handle it directly.

Refunds

  • Refunds are issued only in exceptional cases where we approve a defective item claim.
  • Approved refunds will be processed to your original payment method within 10 business days after inspection.
  • Please allow additional time for your bank or card provider to post the credit.
  • We do not refund shipping fees unless the entire order is faulty due to our error.

If more than 15 business days have passed since approval and you have not received your refund, please contact us at marketing@codrudepaine.ro.

Sale Items and Gift Cards

All sale or discounted items are final sale and non-returnable/non-refundable. Gift cards are also non-refundable and non-exchangeable.

European Union 14-Day Cooling-Off Period

Under EU and Romanian law, consumers generally have a 14-day right of withdrawal for distance contracts. However, this right does not apply to our products because they are perishable foodstuffs that cannot be returned for health and hygiene reasons.

The only exceptions are cases of non-conformity (defective or damaged goods), which we handle as described above under "Damages, Defects, or Wrong Items."
